Workshop Page Seven: Can a Point and Shoot do Well?

One of the images below was shot with a Canon SD1000 point and shoot set on auto exposure, auto white balance.The other was shot with a Canon DSLR, EOS Rebel XT with Aperture priority, auto white balance. The light set up was the same for both. Which one is which?

This was a quick experiment and with a little more control the exposure contrast could have been manipulated to achieve the same result with both cameras. The one thing that was apparent when I mounted the two photos was that the lens distortion was slightly different between the two.

 

 

Answer: Left was the DSLR
