Workshop Page Six: White Balance Bracketing

Just as you might bracket your exposure to get the best possible exposure for your subject, you might also try bracketing the white balance. You can take multiple exposures of the subject with different white balance settings. Most digital cameras have the ability to select other white balance settings. On DSLRs you might have an auto white balance bracketing function. The images below were shot with this feature.

The background here is an 18% grey cloth and the EV was set at +1. The exposure would have been better at EV 0

The three shots were done on one exposure of the camera (slightly overexposed) the amount of color shift can be dialed in on a scale in the menu options. The color shift here was on the blue/yellow scale. The top picture is normal auto white balance, a blue shift on the middle image and the bottom has a yellow shift.
