Workshop Page Three. White Balance Settings.

All images below were shot with daylight balanced fluorescent lights diffused through a three sided light box. The camera’s settings for white balance were reset with each exposure to see the effect on the color of the light.

The white balance on auto actually gave the best rendition. The Fluorescent is close. Note as the color of the light gets higher (shift toward blues) the color turns more yellow. The white balance filters work by filtering the light with the opposite color. For example the yellow tungston of a household lamp which is at 2500K is filtered with a blue cast and the dark blue of the shady or cloudy day is filtered with yellow.
