Moon Shots

I am using my DSLR and a 2” camera adapter with 2x Barlow I have begun to photograph and identify features of the moon.

Hercules-and-Atlas-Craters

The craters Hercules (middle with small internal crater) and Atlas are centered in this picture of the Moon. The small crater to the left of Hercules is Burg while Aristoteles (top) and Eudoxus are on the left mostly in shadow.  Bottom center is Posidonius (larger crater with small crater in the middle). The large crater above Atlas is Endymion.

Sea-of-Tranquility

Mare Tranquillitatis (Sea of Tranquility) occupies the center. Mare Serenitatus (Serenity) is to the upper left of Tranquility while the circular area to the right is Mare Crisium and below is Mare Fecunditatus.

Sea-of-Nectar

Theophilus is the crater with the prominence in the middle and to its right is Mare Nectarus. Piccolomini is the crater growing out of the bottom of Mare Nectarus.
