Biking the Ghost Town Trail

The Ghost Town Trail is so named as the old rail line connected many mining villages in the area from Nanty Glo to Dilltown, Pennsylvania. These villages died out as industry progressed. To find out more about the trail click here. The following pictures are from rides on three different occasions on the trail. The trail is well maintained and full of history and interesting stories. Near Vintondale there is a reclamation area as work is being done to reclaim the streams from the acid mine drainage. At the other end of Vintondale is bubblers in the stream still leaking acid into the waters. At Dilltown there is a bed and breakfast and a country store with snacks for the traveler. The trail at Nanty Glo ends near the downtown district. This is a very good trail to ride.
