The bees and wasps were swarming around our sedum flowers and I started photographing them. Next a Praying Mantis appeared. Below are photos of this recent event. All were shot with the macro settings of my Olympus C-4000 digital camera at the maximum resolution (4mp). Enjoy first the photos of various insects and then my Praying Mantis essay.

While peering around the garden, I noticed a large Praying Mantis on the flowers. I ran in to the house to get my camera and by the time I got back he had snatched a Bumble Bee and was eating it grasped in his forelegs. The bee was still wiggling hopelessly. I watched the Mantis for an hour and put together this series of pictures. Enjoy the world of this fascinating insect.
